Woke up one Sunday morning next to a gorgeous 19 year old after the best night's sex I'd ever had (I was 24 and 8 months pregnant at the time - my husband had just pushed off).
No going back from there for me I'm afraid, so I stayed in bed!
He did a lot for me - made me question my beliefs.

Signs Of Imminent Departure?
by Englishman inback in the 70's, when i was df'd for associating with other df'd people, a lot of us recently df'd ones met up for a mini apostofest at sandy balls in the new forest.. we had a great time, lots of barbies, lots of wine, lots of folk songs by bob dylan, tom paxton and harvey andrews.
we could all strum a few chords too.
her ladyship could bring me to tears with her rendition of cat steven's father and son.. there were also some other common factors besides the folk singing and wine drinking.

FREE BIBLE STUDY.....
by ExmormonRobertson inone thing that has always confused me about the jw's is they promise you a free bible study course but always pull out some other book.
the times this has happened to me, we didn't even open the bible.
hmmmmm...... .

Free????????
And why do they call it "free"? There is nothing "free" about it ie. you can only study at a cost. As soon as you are sucked in, if you try to question or leave you are told that you'll die. Simple as that. -

Thank you for your comment, Dana. No offense taken! I have deliberately used this signature to cause discussion.
I've learnt so much from my 2-year old son. He loves unconditionally and hasn't learnt to hate yet.
I think we all have so much to learn from very young children - they are so free to forgive. It's only when they get older, when we've loaded our crap onto them that they change.
Love means different things to different people. So does hate.
PS I've just finished a huge bowl of chocolate custard. Go get some, you know you want to...

What's everyone doing for Christmas?
by Missie Eff ini'm in a quandry.. came out of the organisation a few years ago, have spend a couple of chilled out christmasses in front of the fire.
no presents, decorations etc, no problem!
but... my little boy is getting older and my ex-husband (my son's father and also an ex-jw) is concerned that he will miss out, just like we did as kids.. but, i am reluctant to do the whole christmas thing.

Like your suggestions Cygnus. We're all coming to your house for the festive period!
I have a two year old child in tow though - may not be entirely suitable for him.

Pure love doesn't fail. Doesn't always bring us what we want but doesn't fail.
Motive is important.Have decided that I hate hating. Too self-destructive. Let's all go eat chocolate!!

But, I am reluctant to do the whole Christmas thing. It all seems like such a commercial rat race. I know that I must sound like bit of a humbug but I don't know if its the JW in me or my dislike of parting with my hard earned dosh.
Someone throw me a line here.

jw's just at my door
by beepers ini still am newly inactive (5 months).
i just moved to a new area, feeling pretty good about things.
finding out about myself and what i want from life for me and my daughter.. today my door bell rang.

Hi Beepers!
I'm new here too!! :)
Good for you!
They daren't come anyway near my door. The elders are meant to call on disfellowshipped evil doers every once in a while to make sure that there is no change of heart - haven't seen anyone yet...
A couple of elders called on my Mum the other day. I don't think they'll be back in a hurry - especially when she's ready to challege them with the same point you raised.
Be ready with the frying pan next time around... -

Frightened That JW's May Be Right?
by Englishman inis the wtbts qualified to run your life for you?
lets take a look.. i was just musing over the threads that relate to disciplining children by means of physical punishment.
there is plenty of material in the societies magazines that advocate hitting children, in the 60s publications there is even a picture of a man spanking a child.

Really good essay Englishman. Really struck a chord with me, especially the subject title. I suppose, if we are all brutally honest, it is all likely that we will have a small doubt somewhere at the back of the mind about whether we should have left. Doesn't seem logical but it instead comes from years of conditioning.
The reasoning the WT uses is so pursuasive and preys on the vunerable, making THEIR teachings, THEIR interpretations and THEIR opinions seem to be common sense, and above all, truth. The whole fear factor enters and logic goes out of the window.
There's a fine line between being brainwashed and having faith.
